ROSTERS and EQUIPMENT

  • Teams consist of 6-10 players
  • All players must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the season
  • This is a co-ed league and teams cannot play more than 5 players of the same gender at a time
  • Teams can field no more than 6 players at the same time
  • During the ‘regular season’ portion teams may utilize non-rostered subs. During playoffs only rostered players will be permitted to play
  • Official rosters must be submitted before league play begins
  • NO METAL CLEATS!
  • Players will be asked to remove necklaces, watches, jewelry that officials deem hazardous
  • Shirts will be tucked in or otherwise out of the way of the flags at all times
  • Teams should be wearing similar or like uniforms during play
  • Flags and balls are provided. Teams may use their preferred ball if approved by the referee

FLAG ETIQUETTE

  • The offense must have a clearly visible, unobstructed flag on each hip
  • Offensive players may not impede defenders ability to grab a flag with their arms or hands (Flag guarding)
  • Defenders that pull a flag successfully should hold it up above their head to help the referees see a successful flag pull
  • If a defender is deemed to have pulled a flag before the offensive player has possession of the ball the play will continue
  • If a flag inadvertently fall off during play the defense must only touch the offensive player with two hands for them to be considered down

SCHEDULING

  • The entire season is 7 weeks. 5 weeks to determine playoff seeding, 2 weeks to determine a season champ
  • Make up games will be rescheduled, or finished if called early, whenever possible
  • A game is eligible for reschedule if;
    • It was canceled due to weather or safety
    • It was called prior to halftime for any reason
  • A game is ineligible for reschedule if;
    • It was called at OR after halftime
    • It determined to be a forfeit for either team
  • If a game needs to be restarted it will resume at the nearest minute, recorded score and the possessing team starting at either the 5 yard line or midfield line (Whichever is closest).

STANDINGS, FORFEITS, & MERCYS

  • Forfeits are recorded as a 24-0 loss
  • Games canceled NOT due to forfeits and that CANNOT be rescheduled are recorded as 8-8 ties
  • If a team is leading by more then 24 points after the 2 minute warning of the second half the game ends
  • If a teams leads by more than 40 points at any point during the second half, the game ends
  • Standing are determined based on;
    • Win/Loss record
    • Head to Head record
    • Point +/-
    • Points scored
    • Rock/Paper/Scissors (best 2 of 3)

START OF GAME and THE CLOCK

  • Games are divided into two halves of play. Each half is 22 minutes long.
  • Game clock will continuously run unless;
    • A valid timeout is called
    • An injury where the player cannot make it off the field in a timely manner
    • It’s the last 2 minutes of the second half. Then the clock will stop on;
      • An incomplete pass
      • Play ending by a player going out of bounds
      • A score by either team (clock remains stopped during point after attempts)
      • A change of possession
      • A valid timeout is called
  • A five minute grace period is permitted for late arrivals. At the referee’s discretion a forfeit may be assessed after this period.
  • Any time past the grace period will be subtracted from the second half of game time
  • Rock/Paper/Scissors to determine starting possession. Winner choice of offense, defense, direction or defer. Loser will have the remaining option
  • Teams are permitted two 60-second timeouts per half
  • Teams will maintain a reasonable pace of play, excessive time wasting will be penalized

OVERTIME

  • There is no overtime during the ‘regular season’ portion of the season, games may end in ties
  • During playoffs, play will continue until a winner is determined utilizing these parameters;
    • The team that had the first possession of the game will have the first overtime possession
    • Teams will start at midfield and four downs to score
    • Each team will have at least one offensive possession
    • Repeat until a team is ahead, after each team has had the same number of offensive possessions

SCORING

CATCHING

  • A touchdown is worth 6 points
  • Extra point attempts are worth;
    • 1 point @ five yards (paces)
    • 2 points @ ten yards (paces)
  • A player need only one foot in bounds, no other part of their body touching out of bounds, and secure possession for the ball to be considered caught

POSSESSION and TURNOVERS

  • At the start of a half and after a scoring play possession starts at the offensive teams 5 yard line
  • If the offense has not made it past midfield and loses possession on downs the opposing team may choose to take the ball at midfield or their own 5 yard mark
  • If the offense has made it past midfield but loses possession on downs the opposing team shall start at the spot of the ball
  • Interceptions result in a change of possession if and where the intercepting player is whistled down
  • Fumbles are whistled dead and do not result in a change of possession
  • Possession changes only after;
    • Scoring plays
    • Interceptions
    • Failure by the offense to secure a new set of downs

OFFENSIVE NOTES

DEFENSIVE NOTES

  • The QB is the player who receives the snap at the start of a play
  • QBs may not rush unless the defense breaks the line of scrimmage
  • Diving and sliding is not permitted
  • The offense may hand-off, pitch and lateral as much as they wish
  • The hike must come from below the knee. It does not have to be between the legs
  • There is no intentional blocking of any pass rushing defender
  • Defense cannot line up closer than 5 yards to the line of scrimmage
  • Defenders may not “jam and bump” offensive players
  • There is no rush count, the defense may pass rush at the snap if they choose
  • No more than one defender may pass rush the QB, if the offense hands off, pitches, or laterals then all defenders may rush
  • Defending should not attempt to strip the ball carrier of the ball
  • Physical tackling is not permitted and should be avoided at all times. Aim for the flag!
